The climate in Cortina
Due to its location in the north of Italy, Cortina is on the northern edge of the subtropics. However, with its location at about 1200 meters above sea level, the climate is already influenced by the alpine location. Specifically, this means temperatures of up to minus five degrees in winter and up to maximum temperatures of 29 degrees in July. The sunshine hours also vary from an average of three hours in November to January to eight hours in July. The number of rainy days reaches a maximum of ten days in May and drops to about four in the winter months.
Attractions in Cortina
Due to its location in the mountainous landscape of the Dolomites, Cortina’s greatest attractions are the kilometers of hiking trails, more than thirty via ferrata routes and plenty of bicycle routes, as well as the famous ski slopes and snowshoe trails in winter. For all these activities, a look at our webcam is a good preparation. In addition to these sporting activities, it is also worth a trip to the historic center with the parish church Basilica Parrochiale SS. Filippo e Giacomo with its ceiling fresco painting. If, however, a somewhat further excursion is planned, Venice can also be reached within two hours.
