The climate in Stelvio
Stelvio belongs to the climatic zone of mid-latitudes and is characterized by its continental climate. The average annual temperature here is 18 °C with an average sunshine duration of 5 hours per day. During the summer months, the temperatures rise, so that the maximum values here are on average 29 °C in July. In winter, on the other hand, temperatures drop significantly again, with January being the coldest month with an average of -10 °C.

The Passo dello Stelvio road is paved throughout and is open to traffic between May and November. During these months it is very busy, because the 48 hairpin bends of the pass attract especially motorcyclists. Thus, every year in the first week of July, the international meeting takes place here, where hundreds of motorcyclists gather. But also for motorists the pass road with its magnificent surroundings and the grandiose mountain panorama in the middle of the Alps is worth a drive. This is because the Passo dello Stelvio is located in the picturesque Stilfser Joch National Park, framed by the peaks of the Ortler massif. A real challenge awaits all cycling enthusiasts at the Passo dello Stelvio. Especially on the car-free bike day, the Stelvio Pass becomes a popular destination for road cyclists.
